How do you wash a sequin dress? Can you put embellishments in the washing machine? Celebrity stylist Gemma Sheppard tells us how she looks after her own party-season delicates.
‘Sequin tops or dresses may not always need a wash, sometimes you can freshen them up with just an airing. If an item has to be washed, turn inside out, pop into a laundry bag and wash on a gentle, cold cycle.’
‘You should be able to wash leather dresses, skirts or tops simply by hand with a sponge and warm, soapy water.’
‘Like sequins, these need to be treated carefully – turn inside out and use a laundry bag to add an extra layer of protection.’
Silk and satin
‘Rub silk against silk to remove any spots.’
Grubby party shoes
‘Use a protective coating before wearing your party shoes to help protect them, and after an outing, wipe any dirt off with a moist cloth.’
